our Little Joey

A young kangaroo is called a Joey. Born after only 34 days of gestation, about the size of a bean, the newborn climbs through the mother’s fur and into her pouch, attaching to a teat to feed and grow. After 9 months in the pouch the Joey will briefly spend time out of the pouch returning to feed and for safety. Kangaroo’s are native to Australia.
